Hands-on review: ZVEX Effects Fuzz Probe

I bought this from Musicians Friend for $40 because it was the cheapest "amp" I could find since I just started.

The only thing I like about this unit is the price, and the fact that it makes sound. Also, it has a headphone jack which can be useful.

The sound is terrible. It is always distorted. It sounds nothing like a bass. Even with the mid and high eq's all the way down and the low all the way up, it still sounds nothing like a bass. It has a boost switch, but it does absolutely nothing. It only makes more unwanted noise. It is not loud for 20 watts either. No line out. So basically, everything.

Everything seems to be holding up well, no problems except a small covering on the speaker came un-glued and fell off. This does not affect the amp in any way though.

The bottom line is this: This is a terrible investment for anyone to make. It is a complete waste of money. (Well, I guess that's what you get for $40!) I would not recommend this to anyone. Please, I insist that you spend a little extra and get something that's worth it.
